Green and White flags during November?

Today, the school was different and was dressed in green and white, but why if we are in November? Well, Oriente won the champion yesterday Sunday, and the students were definitely in the mood to celebrate. Blooministas were sad and were not looking forward to return to school after the long vacation and listen to some brag about their achievement. On the other hand, Orientistas probably woke up today and had a new motivation to come to school and sing the Oriente Anthem as much as they could and celebrate with their peers.
Although i am a "Bloominista a morir" i think that the Orientistas deserved to win. They worked hard and besides that, it was time for them to earn antother star. I have been bothered all day today, but i will be sad when they catch up with us and earn their 5th Title. Until then, VIVA BLOOMING!

Thursday Assembly and no School Tomorrow!

Today, the SCCS school had an assembly during Flex that was exciting and nerve racking for some, and sentimental to others. The cheerleaders performed their usual dance rountine and were well aplauded. They danced to songs from Lady Gaga and Beyonce. What do you think about their routines? Are the cheerleaders going to represent us well in that competition they have tomorrow?
To Mrs. Yema it was quite a sentimental assembly because she was named TEACHER OF THE MONTH!  When she was asked to go up front and listen to the speeches from her 10th grade tudents, she was tear eyed and on the verge of crying. It was emotional to see her in that state because students are NEVER used to see the sensitive side to teachers. Who did you vote as your teacher of the month? Do you think Mrs. Yemma deserved to win the very first teacher of the month award?
Finally, tomorrow there is no school. We had quite a short school week since there was no school on monday and there is no school on friday either! What do you plan to do this long weekend? Seniors are hosting a party today night, do you plan on attending?

Undecided About your Future?

Well, as many already know, this is the time for the SAT exams to take place. Some seniors already took all of their SAT exams and others are waiting to take their last exam Saturday November 5! It is common for seniors to be extremely stressed out during these months of the year due to SAT,TOEFL and Midterm exams, on top of the applications and decisions that are extremely relevant to our futures! How are you dealing with all these stresses?  Have you decided what you want to study yet?  Chosing what to study is quite a hard decision to make.
It turns out that the best way to choose is to pick a study that lights your fire. A recent study asked 1000 college graduates how they had chosen their studies and arrived at two very interesting findings:
  •  Study what you like and you’ll get a job you’ll like
  •  Study what you like and you’ll make more money!
And when you think of it, this is not surprising at all. If you study something that makes you happy you will:
  • Be more productive – because people who like what they do get more done
  • Be more motivated and energetic – because happy people have more energy
  • Learn faster – because happy people do just that
  • Study better with others – because happy people communicate and team-work more efficiently
You will probably even have a better time socially while you study because happy people are more fun to be around than miserable bastards. All of this means you will get better grades and have a better chance of actually getting your degree. Which again elevates your chances of landing a job in your particular field AND of being successful in that job.

SCCS Halloween Celebration!

Halloween has been tradition in our school for many years.  This year its the SENIORS 2011 who are in charge of spicing up the morning. Although they are very excited and looking forward to scarying the children at SCCS they also feel sad because they wont be dancing at the Halloween party the same night. It is sad to see that the schools tradition is breaking down and only a few clases are going to dance this year. Why do you think that the School tradition is breaking apart as the years go by? How do you think the Halloween festival will turn out to be this year since there won't be much dancing? Do you believe the SCCS Halloween festival is a fun festival or not?
If you dont know what the Halloween festival is about, you can check out: http://www.sccs.edu.bo/StoryHallowween06.php to find more information and pictures about the biggest celebration of the SCCS Jaguars!

RSVP??

This year a new word was implemented in SCCS high school. RSVP! Raising students voice and participation all of a sudden seems like the incentive to class representatives from each grade. There has been activities to promote this idea such as a tug of war competition, Guitar Hero contest and most recently the Pie-Throwing contest. What do you really think about these new activites performed at break?Remember to feel free to comment anonimously!
